Mr. Varner is Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Boston Partners and has served in this capacity since May 2017. As Chief Financial Officer, he oversees the finance and operational risk management functions. Mr. Varner joined the firm in June 2006 as Assistant Controller and became Controller in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, he spent seven years working for Lazard as Senior Vice President. Before that, he worked as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Caliber Learning Network, served as a financial manager at USF&G for three years, and spent two years as a financial analyst at Microbiological Associates, Inc. Mr. Varner began his career with Westinghouse Electric Company as an accountant in the Controllers Department. He received his B.B.A. in Finance with a minor in Economics from James Madison University and an M.B.A. and M.S.F. from Loyola University Maryland. Mr. Varner began his career in the financial services industry in 1996.
